7 Top Spots To Celebrate
A Birthday In Cape Town

June, 20 2022

Kids’ birthday parties are such magical, happy occasions. For the kids, at least 🍰

For the parents planning these shindigs, however, these sparkly, memory-making events can be a little tricky. And the cleanup, oh the cleanup. Have you ever cleaned up after a bunch of super excited, somewhat-sugar-crazed tots, tweens or teens? Suffice it to say, it’s not much of a vibe.

This is why kids’ party venues are so wonderful! You round up your little one’s crew, ferry them to a likely spot (or have them meet you there), watch them have a bunch of fun and then you get to go home. To your clean, un-partied-in house. JOY.

To make things even easier, we’ve rounded up a list of some of the best-loved kids’ birthday party spots in and around Cape Town. Here you go!

1. Best all-around venue

Wonderdal at Hazendal Wine Estate

A birthday party at Wonderdal is just about every kid’s dream come true. Here, children between the ages of 6 to 12 years old can enjoy hours of supervised fun and edutainment, while our professional events staff take care of everything from catering to clean-up, leaving parents to relax and enjoy the special day of birthday celebrations or explore everything Hazendal Wine Estate has to offer.

Party packages include a 2-hour, fully supervised Wonderdal play session for each partygoer, as well as the party venue, a Wonderdal party planner, decor set-up, Wonderdal party host, party pack filled with treats and goodies, an e-vite to send out to friends, full post-party clean-up, as well as the use of cutlery and crockery. Plus there are other optional extras like cakes, platters, and extra decor elements that can be added at your discretion.

Best of all – Wonderdal is an indoor/outdoor venue, which means your celebration will be able to proceed come rain or shine (or a classic 4-seasons-in-1 Capetonian day!).

You can even combine a birthday party at Wonderdal with a nice brunch at the Babushka Deli or a Russian Tea Ceremony for the parents while the kids enjoy their supervised edutainment session. Or how about a round of golf at Kleine Hazen Putting Park for the whole crew afterwards? Options abound at Hazendal Estate!

2. Best outdoor venue

Acrobranch Outdoor Playpark

If your kiddo is into adventure and likes to swing around like a monkey, Acrobranch Outdoor Playpark, is an amazing option for a kid’s birthday party in Cape Town.

The Constantia branch offers a variety of courses that are suited to kids of different ages, so you can tailor an occasion that suits the skill levels of all the kids you invite. In fact, the parents can get in on the action as well!

Encouraging your children to spend their time outdoors can be an essential element in your child’s development, so why not allow them to explore and enjoy fun obstacle courses that will test their physical ability, brainpower, and balancing skills 🐒

3. Best indoor venue

Cape Town Science Centre

The Cape Town Science Centre offers a great Partycle (hehe, get it?) – an enclosed area where your crew can celebrate in style with your own snacks and cake, plus each partygoer also has access to the centre for the whole day!

If you want to amp up the science, you can also choose to add a 30-minute show of scientific pops, bangs, smoke and flames or a 90-minute hands-on Lego WeDo or Lego Mindstorms workshop at extra charge.

Find the booking form here.

4. Best active venue

RUSH

Kids’ parties at RUSH trampoline park in Claremont are a great option for fun-loving groups of children who can do with a safe place to bounce their hearts out and let off some steam. The truly great thing about it is that you don’t have to worry about whether it’s going to rain or not, since it’s all indoors!

With approximately 1 700-square-meters of wall-to-wall interconnected trampolines, including dodgeball courts, an 18 000 cube foam pit, hydraulic slam-dunk basketball hoops, a battle beam and (best of all!) a 40-meter-high performance wall, there is a lot of space to go bonkers.

Plus, there is WiFi, great coffee, snacks and a cake bar available for the parents. Party packages include a one-hour jump pass per child, as well as Rush non-slip jump socks, bottomless slush puppies, popcorn, pick-’n-mix sweets jars, Rush sunglasses, filtered water and access to the VIP party room.

5. Best arty venue

Clay Cafe in the City

If your child is quite the arty one, and a little bit older (say around 5 and up), they will probably love a birthday party at Clay Cafe in the City. This nifty destination allows kids and adults alike to take their pick from pre-made ceramic items (e.g. unicorns, vases, Batman figures, egg cups, etc.) to paint. These items are then fired on-site and can be picked up a few weeks afterwards – a great after-the-fact party favour.

Email jade@claycafe.co.za for more info and to book.

BONUS TIP! If you feel like your little tribe is too boisterous to take to a ceramics place, there is always ArtJamming as well. This option also allows your partygoers to take their art pieces home on the day.

6. Best foodie venue

The Chef’s Studio

Do you have little foodies in the mix? The Chef’s Studio offers Kids Who Cook experiences that are tailormade for kid’s parties (10 to 16 years). These events are intended to inspire and engage young chefs under the supervision of professional chefs while parents take a seat at the chef’s table and enjoy sharing plates.

Culinary cooking party parties for little chefs include themes such as Mini MasterChef, the Choccy-Woccy Doo Da chocolate experience, or a kiddies Mystery Box Challenge. Each partygoer is also presented with their own apron, cooking certificate and recipe card to take home.

7. Best all-ages venue

Kleine Hazen Putting Park at Hazendal

Suitable for everyone from tots to teens, Hazendal’s Kleine Hazen Putting Park offers a superb venue and activity range to keep youngsters entertained outdoors for hours.

The Putting Park has 27 holes of adventure golf that can be enjoyed by golfers and non-golfers alike. The putt-putt course is great fun for all ages, with all equipment provided on site.

There are also picnic areas, safe and secure playgrounds, an oversized outdoor chess set and jungle gyms for post-putting relaxation.

Plus, the nearby kiosk offers delicious light snacks and premium coffees.

But it gets even better when you book your birthday party at Kleine Hazen Putting park. There are dedicated areas that are allocated for birthdays and party packs filled with sweet treats and fun toys!

In addition, Hazendal can take care of decor and catering for parties and events, with menus tailored to individual needs, so you can be sure that all birthday wishes will come true!
